- Born April 5th, 1588 at Westport a village in Wiltshire, England
- Died December 4th, 1679 in Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire, England
- Thomas Hobbes was named after his father Thomas Hobbes sr.
- His brother Edmond, was two years older than him
- Began school at the age of 4 at Westport Church
- At the age of seven his father got in a fight and left.
- In the care of is uncle he was transferred to private school
- He was exceedingly good at school and exceptional at Greek and Latin.
- Went college at Oxford University in England where he studied Classics
- He found that his opinions differed from the teachings of Aristotle
- He graduated in 1608 receiving his Bachelor Degree
