Thomas Hobbes has left influences on political issues. His beliefs that people were selfish, brutal, and evil led into the further research on the topic by other philosophers like John Locke. After the revolution Hobbes beliefs that every one should have equal rights and not more powerful than other people was adopted by our constitution. However he believed that the king would rule over the people and have the absolute sovereignty, kinda like our president.
Because of Hobbes discovery, we realized that people could not survive without a strong government. He questioned the relationship between religion and science and also what limits should the governments have. His social contract theory established that a government should serve and protect all the people in the society , acting only with the "consent of the governed". This influenced the U.S. constitution.
